Why I Became a Wedding Celebrant (And Why It Matters to You)

You’ve probably spent hours thinking about your venue, what to wear, your flowers, your photographer and maybe even your cake.

After all, your ceremony isn’t just the beginning of your wedding day. It’s the moment everything else revolves around. It’s where you’ll see each other, make your promises and share one of the most significant moments of your lives with the people you love most.
That’s why I became a celebrant.

Not because I wanted to stand in front of a room full of people, but because I’ve always been fascinated by people and their stories.
Every person I meet has lived a completely unique life. Every relationship has its own little moments, traditions, adventures and memories that make it unlike any other.
Those are the things I love discovering.

When we sit down together, I won’t be working my way through a checklist. I’ll want to know how you met. Who made the first move. What makes you laugh until your sides hurt. What your friends always tease you about. The little moments that might seem ordinary to you, but are actually the moments that tell your story better than anything else ever could.
Because those are the moments that make your guests smile and think, “That’s so them.”

My role isn’t simply to conduct your ceremony.
It’s to create something that feels so personal your guests couldn’t imagine anyone else standing where I am.

Before becoming a celebrant, I spent many years working with people in senior leadership roles and later as a professional mediator. Those careers taught me something incredibly valuable: how to listen.
Really listen.
Not just to the words people say, but to what matters most to them.
It’s a skill I bring to every ceremony I write.
Whether you’re planning an elegant country house wedding, a relaxed barn celebration or an intimate gathering with your closest family and friends, my goal is always exactly the same.
